University of Georgia Linguistics Faculty and Graduate Students presented at the 2019 American Dialect Society annual conference in New Your City, New York, January 3-6, 2019.

Collections of speech and text, known as corpora, have long played a key role in linguistics.

Kim Waters, doctoral candidate in the Linguistics Department, served as co-moderator of two events, with Dr. Sujata Iyengar of UGA’s English Department, in the November conference, Scenes in the Other’s Language / Scénes dans la langue de l’autre.

Congratulations to lead editor Prof. Jared Klein and editorial assistant Dr. Mark Wenthe on the publication (2017-2018) of the three-volume Handbook of Comparative and Historical Indo-European Linguistics, issued by De Gruyter Mouton.

UGA will host an intensive Eye Tracking Research Academy from September 18-23, 2018, sponsored by the Willson Center for Humanities and Arts, and instructed by a world-renowned eye tracking expert, Dr. Kenneth Holmqvist (Regensburg University, Germany).
