Thanks to a generous endowment created by Michael H. and Nancy E. Scarbrough, the Department of Linguistics is able to offer funding to support undergraduate research projects.There are two categories of awards, which are described below.

UGA Linguistics alum, Dr. Doug Merchant (PhD class of 2019) was recently published in the journal Natural Language and Theory. His paper, "What's in the bucket? Aspectual (non)compositionality in phrasal idioms" can be found in Volume 39, issue 4 released in November 2021.

The NWAV 29 Conference (New Ways of Analyzing Variation) was held virtually hosted by the University of Texas at Austin October 19-24, and the University of Georgia's Linguistics Department was well represented!

The Red and Black recently published an article profiling PhD student Shannon Rodriquez and her research on the Southern Latinx community.

The Department of Linguistics at the University of Georgia invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin August 1, 2022.
