Tom is a PhD student in Linguistics at the University of Georgia. His research focuses on language contact in the Balkans and Central Asia and the histories of the languages involved (particularly Albanian and Uzbek). He holds a BA in Linguistics from the University of Oklahoma. Prior to studying at UGA, he worked as an English teacher in Kosovo (Peace Corps) and Spain (Auxiliares de Conversación). In addition to his research, he currently teaches Spanish.

Tom served as the co-chair for the 6th annual interdisciplinary Linguistics Conference at UGA (LCUGA6)
