Dr. John Hale joins the UGA Department of Linguistics

We are very happy to announce the appointment of Dr. John Hale as the Arch Professor of World Languages and Cultures in the Department of Linguistics. Dr. Hale received his Sc.B. degree from Brown University and his Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University. His work centers on fundamental questions of language comprehension, which he investigates through cognitive modeling using computer simulations. He is PI of the NSF-funded project Neuro-Computational Models of Natural Language and the author of Automaton Theories of Human Sentence Comprehension (Stanford: CSLI, 2014).
