Travel & Accommodation

LSRL 2019 will be hosted on the campus of the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia USA.

Arriving by air: The most convenient airports to Athens are Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL), which is approximately 70 miles from Athens, and Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP), approximately 120 miles from Athens.

Ground transportation: For those not arriving by car, Groome Transportation provides frequent shuttle van service to and from Atlanta's airport. Shuttles stop at all major Athens-area hotels, including the Georgia Center, where the conference will take place.

Accommodation:

  • We have reserved a block of rooms for LSRL attendees at UGA's Georgia Center Hotel, where the main sessions of LSRL will take place. Please contact the Georgia Center to inquire about discounted rates. The Georgia Center is convenient to campus and provides free shuttle service to downtown Athens and other nearby areas.
  • Other hotels close to UGA's campus and the conference location are the Holiday Inn Athens-University Area and Springhill Suites Athens Downtown/University Area.
  • For graduate student attendees, we will offer Crash Space with grad students in the Department of Romance Languages and the Department of Linguistics. If you would like to request Crash Space, please contact Arielle Lewis (Arielle.Lewis@uga.edu).

Travel Awards:

We are pleased to announce that we will be offering a number of Student Awards for LSRL 49, to assist students traveling to the conference. To nominate students for these awards, please submit (i) a CV, (ii) a short biographical statement from the student (no more than a half page single spaced), and (iii) a short note (no more than a half page) from the student's advisor. The biographical statement should include (i) a summary of research/academic interests and experiences, and (ii) any personal information that might be relevant in explaining the student’s interests. All nominations for the Student Awards should be submitted to the conference email address (lsrl2019@gmail.com) by March 22.
