University Resources

The Linguistic Atlas Projects
The Linguistic Atlas is a national archive center for survey research on American English and boasts one of the largest collections of primary linguistic data in the US. Under the direction of Dr. William Kretzschmar, the atlas projects develop computer and statistical methods for the study of American English.

The Artificial Intelligence Center
The AI center is an interdepartmental research and instructional center within the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences of the University of Georgia. An important aspect of the center's research agenda includes work on natural language processing.

The Language Resource Center
An instructional unit of the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences, the Labs provide language laboratory environments, state-of-the-art technologies and tutorial interventions useful in foreign and second language teaching and learning.

University of Georgia Libraries
The Main Library collects materials in the social sciences, humanities and business. The Science Library contains holdings for the physical and life sciences. Together the Libraries own over 3.5 million volumes and over 5 million microform units. Items in the collection can be identified through GIL, the UGA Libraries' online catalog. In terms of linguistic-related scholarship (texts, journals), the UGA libraries are exceptional resources.

GALILEO
GALILEO stands for GeorgiA LIbrary LEarning Online and is a World Wide Web-based virtual library providing access to multiple information resources, including secured access to licensed products. UGA students may access over 100 databases indexing thousands of periodicals and scholarly journals, such as the Oxford English dictionary and MLA. Over 2000 journal titles are provided in full-text. Other resources include encyclopedias, business directories, and government publications.
